2 Day Kangaroo Island Wilderness Safari
You start your Kangaroo Island tour from Adelaide being picked up from your accommodation and escorted to Cape Jervis for your ferry transfer over to Kangaroo Island. Kangaroo Island is a large island and best seen with a guided tour so you are sure not to miss any of its best attractions. You will experience a scenic drive past Pennington Bay, a picnic lunch at a secluded location, unique wildlife encounters wandering amongst the rare Australian Sea Lion colony at Seal Bay, guided walks spotting Koalas, Tammar Wallabies and Kangaroos, get up close to New Zealand Fur Seals and in the months May-September you may even be lucky enough to spot Southern Right Whales. Visits to natural attractions such as Flinders Chase National Park, Admirals Arch, opportunity to wander through the geological monuments of Remarkable Rocks and numerous walks at coastal stops enjoying the spectacular local flora and fauna.
Itinerary
Day 1 Adelaide to Flinders Chase:
Passengers depart Adelaide early this morning bound for Kangaroo Island. Once in Penneshaw your guide welcomes you with an island introduction before your wilderness adventure begins. You'll visit Pennington Bay, and also have the unique opportunity to wander amongst a rare Australian Sea Lion colony at Seal Bay, in their natural habitat. After a picnic lunch at Vivonne Bay, you trek the sand dunes of Little Sahara. Next it's Koala spotting, followed by a visit to the magnificent formation of Admirals Arch along with a close encounter with New Zealand Fur Seals. Wander through Remarkable Rocks - an incredible display of millions of years of wind and ocean weathering. Tonight we'll seek out nocturnal wildlife and swap stories under the huge night sky.
Day 2 Flinders Chase to Adelaide:
Today you will visit the Flinders Chase National Park for a wilderness trek on one of the three bush trails. Between May and September you may even spot migrating whales from the national parks lookouts. You then head to one of the beautiful secluded beaches of the North Coast of Kangaroo Island for lunch with a view. Late in the day there is further opportunity for viewing Kangaroos and Tammar wallabies as they come out to graze in the open fields. Armed with the best photos of wildlife and scenery imaginable, you head to your point of departure and return to Adelaide.
